The Knotty Ladies are returning to Roan Mountain State Park October 12-14, 2018 for our 6th annual Yarn & Fiber Retreat Weekend. The Conference Center there is perfect for sharing time knitting, spinning, weaving, felting and crocheting with like-minded adult (age 13 and up) fiber friends. The vendors are all local fiber producers, or purveyors of fine tools and toys for the discriminating crafter.
Optional Pot Luck on Friday Night
Mini-Clinics throughout the day Saturday.
We play the "Knotty or Knice" game on Saturday afternoon - you know the one - bring a knitting/crochet/fiber-related gift ($20 range) and spend the next 45 minutes trying to take what you want away from your friends!
We have a Free Swap table set up, and you are welcome to bring anything related to fiber arts that you no longer need or want, so that another crafter can adopt it and use it.
Door Prizes from our fabulous vendors are always a big hit.
Registration is open for the 2018 event! The fees for the rental of the Conference Center have increased $100 per day this year over previous years. (YIKES!!) Fees for the event and classes are non-refundable, and 100% goes toward renting the conference center.
Mini-Clinics are typically between 30 and 60 minutes, cost $5-$10 to cover the rental of the facility, and the instructors donate their time. We are interested in hearing what you would like to see offered as a clinic, as well as your ideas for clinics you'd like to teach.
Accommodations and other things to do
Cabins are all booked at this point in time, but please keep checking at the park to see if there are cancellations. These cabins always fill up, so it's a good idea to reserve for next year while you're here. You can always cancel later (but PLEASE email us at firstname.lastname@example.org before you do, so we can reserve it in your place.) There are campsites here at the park, as well hotels, lodges and B&B's in nearby Roan Mountain, Newland, Elizabethton, Hampton, Erwin, Watauga Lake, Johnson City and Linwood Falls. Click here for other accommodations available in the Roan Mountain area.
There are a lot of fun things to do at the park, including hiking, fishing and even live music.
Each cabin has a full kitchen as does the Conference Center. There are also several restaurants available in the town of Roan Mountain and the bottom of the mountain.
While meals are on your own, we encourage you to bring snacks to share, and if you are interested, a dish for a pot luck Friday Night. Since all cabins are fully equipped with a kitchen and outdoor charcoal grill, there are a lot of options!
